The White River National Forest is seeking public comment on a proposal from Breckenridge Stables to replace existing temporary structures on Peak 9 within Breckenridge Ski Resort with two permanent buildings.

Breckenridge Stables operates under a U.S. Forest Service special use permit. It has been providing summer horseback rides for more than 40 years and winter sleigh rides for more than 15 years. Breckenridge Stables and Breckenridge Ski Resort are separate entities that work together to ensure operational safety throughout the year.

The proposal includes constructing a guest services lodge to provide a summer base for horseback trail rides and a winter sleigh ride dining venue. It also calls for a winter guest services building to provide a winter base for sleigh rides.

Comments will be most helpful if received by Feb. 15. More information, including how to comment, is available at FS.USDA.gov/project/whiteriver/?project=66372
