Copper Mountain moves to Stage 3 water restrictions, punishable by up to $250 fine per offense

Copper Mountain has imposed mandatory Stage 3 water restrictions due to “extreme” water shortage conditions.
Up until June 1, Copper Mountain has not been under any water restrictions. The town is now moving to Stage 3, which is the second-highest level of water restriction that the community can enforce. Under these new limitations, automated sprinkler and irrigation systems are not allowed and a ban has been imposed on vehicle, structure or boat washing.
Hand watering of plants is now the only kind of watering allowed. Using a watering can or a shut-off nozzle hose are both permissible, but only allowed on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Food and beverage establishments will also serve water upon request only.
Violators of Copper Mountain’s policies will receive a written warning or educational call or visit on their first offense, with a fine of up to $250 imposed for second violations and for each individual violation thereafter.
