Colorado Highway 9 reopens following fatal crash near Tiger Road between Breckenridge, Frisco

FINAL UPDATE, 9 p.m.: Colorado Highway 9 reopened at 8:51 p.m., according to CoTrip.org, following a fatal crash Tuesday night between Breckenridge and Frisco.

One person is dead and one was transported to the hospital with injuries after two vehicles collided near Tiger Road north of Breckenridge around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, Colorado State Patrol trooper Gabriel Moltrer said.

Southbound traffic on Highway 9 was closed for more than three hours, though alternating traffic was allowed through the scene, as Colorado State Patrol conducted an investigation.



Moltrer said no further details will be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.

8:30 p.m.: Colorado Highway 9 remains closed southbound, but police are allowing traffic to flow through the area as it alternates between southbound and northbound vehicles.



7:30 p.m.: Colorado Highway 9 remains closed following a fatal crash involving two vehicles near Tiger Road, and Colorado State Patrol trooper Gabriel Moltrer said there’s not estimate for reopening the roadway.

Moltrer said lifting the closure is dependent on the road conditions and the status of the ongoing investigation into the crash.

One person is confirmed dead and one person was transported after a caller reported that the crash was blocking a southbound lane around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Traffic is alternating through the area, and traffic continues to back up in the area. Motorists are advised to avoid the scene, if possible.

6:15 p.m.: A crash is causing traffic delays on Colorado Highway 9 between Frisco and Breckenridge, according to CoTrip.org.

Summit County Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons said the fatal crash is currently being investigated by Colorado State Patrol.

There is a safety closure in place on southbound Highway 9 near Lake View Meadows and Forest Service Road 950, and traffic officials are allowing alternating traffic, a CoTrip.org alert states.

Colorado State Patrol did not immediately respond to requests for information, but this story will be updated as more information is received.
