The town of Frisco in partnership with Xcel Energy and Colorado CarShare has launched a new electric vehicle car-share program in Frisco, according to a news release from the town.

The program offers residents and visitors the option to reserve an electric car vehicle, located at charging stations on Third Avenue, just off Main Street, the release states. The program aligns directly with the town’s commitment to providing quality core services that reduce local climate impacts and support a thriving economy through mobility improvements, according to the news release.

Colorado CarShare is a nonprofit organization that operates over 75 car-share locations throughout Colorado, with four locations in Summit County. Xcel Energy reportedly provided funding for carshare charging stations to be installed adjacent to the existing chargers on 3rd Avenue and rebates to Colorado CarShare for the electric vehicle.

A second vehicle will be added at the Frisco location at a later date once the new charging stations are installed. All car-share vehicles will be equipped for Summit County driving, including snow tires, ski racks and a bike rack during the relevant season.

To use the vehicle, the first step is to sign up for a membership at CarShare.org and use the promo code FRISCO_X, which will waive the application fee and will add $50 in CarShare credits to the first 100 new Frisco members.

After becoming a member, the car-share vehicles can be reserved up to four months in advance and are available for anything from quick 15-minute trips to multiple days. Members simply retrieve the vehicle at the time of their reservation and return it to the same spot when the trip is complete.
