Law enforcement officers performed a “high-risk stop” with guns drawn on Interstate 70 on Friday, April 11, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
Summit County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mike Schilling said that deputies along with other law enforcement officers from the Colorado State Patrol and the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office responded a little after 5 p.m. to a report of a reckless driver cutting off cars and waving a handgun.
Law enforcement stopped the vehicle at the chain-up station on westbound I-70 near Exit 205 to Silverthorne but did not discover a gun during an investigation, Schilling said. He said the Sheriff’s Office did not arrest or charge the driver.
Schilling said the Sheriff’s Office passed the investigation into whether reckless driving occurred to the Colorado State Patrol.
State Patrol trooper Gabriel Moltrer could not immediately provide information Monday, April 14, on whether troopers issued charges in that investigation.
