Readers have voted High Country Healthcare’s Tyler Norton as Summit County’s Best Physician’s Assistant in the 2024 Best of Summit contest.
Norton has throughout his life found himself drawn to Summit County, and now works to take care of the healthcare of its residents.
Originally from Colorado Springs, Norton spent his childhood coming to Summit County, where his parents have a second home, and has a longtime love of recreation including skiing and fly fishing.
Even as he furthered his education, Norton found himself continually drawn back to the High Country.
“After college, I came directly here and worked in ski patrol for three or four seasons at Copper. I also worked here at High Country Healthcare as a medical assistant for two years,” Norton said.
Norton then left to pursue his medical career, graduating from the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago in June 2013.
Norton said he was drawn to practice medicine due in part to his desire to provide excellent patient care.
“Primarily, it’s just taking care of patients and helping them improve their overall well-being,” he explained.
After earning his postgraduate degree, Norton worked in Leadville for two years before starting again at High Country Healthcare in Breckenridge, a primary care clinic, in July 2017.

Norton said he particularly prizes the teamwork at High Country Healthcare.
“Our staff here particularly in Breckenridge works awesome as a team. We really take care of patients and wouldn’t be able to do it as well without our entire staff,”he said.
He added that he enjoys primary care because it allows for getting to know patients more intimately.
“I enjoy the ability to establish relationships with patients over time and have a great impact on their health over time,” Norton said.
He also attributed his Best Physician’s Assistant award win to his dedication to patient care.
“I think it has to do with my dedication to patients’ health and wanting them to receive the type of healthcare that I’d want to receive myself,” Norton said.
Norton lives in Summit County with his wife, Fahren, and daughters Faela and Isla.
