Letter to the editor: It doesn’t seem like Dillon Town Council is on top of this project

Leslie Resnick
Dillon

I just left the meeting with Dillon’s Town Council regarding providing facts to the Dillon residents during the currently active voting about the proposed development by Jake Porritt. The information stated by an attendee reciting the town’s codes showed several things. The information the council has been working with might not be correct. I am not a developer but a realtor of 30+ years and know zoning codes should be the basis of the beginning of any discussions. That the town planner was not in attendance during this meeting seems to be a travesty. Another concern is that a person on the Dillon Town Council is listed as an employee of the real estate group that is selling Mr. Jake Porritt’s Uptown 240 development which leads me to believe she should recuse herself of any further part in this matter.

It does not appear the council has been working with all of the information, and it is understandable why there are residents of Dillon who are upset.

The council denied at the beginning of the meeting that no one on the council was going to benefit from the development. There seems to be a lack of transparency. The rolled eyes by one member when questions were posed, and the councils laughing when asked about individuals benefiting. Is this who we want representing Dillon?

Rather bad optics. The town of Dillon deserves better.
