Letter to the editor: ‘Pave Paradise, put up a parking lot’ — Dillon edition
Dillon
For those who see the Dillon Town Council meeting electronic billboard on U.S. Highway 6, don’t waste your time.
Ostensibly the idea is for the Town Council members to get a reading on their constituent’s concerns at these meetings, but in fact there is no comment and utterly no recognition of voters concerns, which is why most of this Town Council will be recalled in a month. Of the meetings I have attended, the residents of Dillon have overwhelmingly voiced their resistance to the Detroit developer’s plans to rebuild Dillon.
Nevertheless, this council approved his plan to take the last remaining lakefront lot (“paradise”) and put a multi-story parking lot on it. There were other alternatives in place at the most recent meeting, but of course as usual, the voters wishes were ignored. One can only speculate how this Detroit developer was able to influence the majority of the council to vote for his interests rather than those of the citizens of Dillon.
